About the Artist

April was born in Wake Forest, North Carolina and moved to a small town just outside Orlando, Florida when she was 7 years old. After graduating from high school she returned to North Carolina to attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she recieved her BA in Theatre with an emphasis on Theatre Education. After graduation, she worked and performed at a number of theatres in both North Carolina and Florida.

In 2004, April decided to take her life on a new path and began attending the Digital Animation and Visual Effects School where her determination and ability to learn quickly allowed her to graduate one year later.

Her pursuits of 3d animation and visual effects led her west to Hollywood and her first job with Flash Film Works creating amazing water effects for the feature film The Guardian.

After The Guardian she was asked to join the first ever Virtual Art Department on James Cameron's upcoming Avatar. On Avatar she was promoted to a lead artist and worked one on one with the industry's leading production designers, art directors, 3d artists, and crew. She also was fortunate enough to work one on one with James Cameron on a daily basis.

Currently, she is perfecting her artistic skills in all areas, returning to her performing roots while maintaining her CG skills. She is taking classes in puppetry from former Muppeteer Michael Earl, improv at the world-famous Second City, and Meisner Technique from Broadway actor Kent Klineman.
